LOS ANGELES—The Printing Industries Association, Inc. of Southern California (PIASC) is thrilled to announce that Janet Green, President of Greens Printing, Inc., has received the 2017 Naomi Berber Memorial Award, the U.S. graphic communications industry's only award honoring the outstanding contributions of women.
"This is a well-deserved recognition of Ms. Green's outstanding leadership in the graphic communications industry," states Lou Caron, President of PIASC. "Her contributions to PIA [Printing Industries of America] at both the local and national level have truly made a difference for the industry as a whole."
Ms. Green joined the PIASC Board of Directors in 1995, where she held numerous leadership roles, including serving as the organization's Chairperson from 1999 to 2000. At the national level, Ms. Green has served on the PIA/GATF (Graphic Arts Technical Foundation) Board since 1998; in 2008 she became the first woman in the organization's 122-year history to serve as its Chairperson.
The Naomi Berber Memorial Award will be added to the list of Ms. Green's many accolades and accomplishments. In 2004 PIASC named her the organization's Executive of the Year. In 2009, she became the third woman to be inducted into the Printing Impressions/RIT Printing Industry Hall of Fame. In 2010, PIA honored her with the Lewis Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award. Ms. Green has testified before the U.S. Senate, met personally with President Bush in 2008 to thank him on behalf of the printing industry for his stimulus package, and served as an expert witness in California State Superior Court.
You might say that printing is in Ms. Green's blood, as she is the third generation in her family to run Greens Printing, a nearly 110-year-old commercial printing business that now specializes in green and sustainable high-end sheet-fed printing, digital printing, and more. During her over 30 years at the firm she has served in many capacities, working in every department in the plant except running a press. As a result of her extensive experience, Ms. Green now serves as both a legal arbitrator and an expert witness in the printing and graphic communications industry.
